Securing Energy’s Future

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry is playing a pivotal role in expanding access to stored energy across the globe.  Resulting in many sectors switching to natural gas as a critical energy resource.  As this industry grows, so does its infrastructure, requiring critical infrastructure protection to run safely and efficiently.

Canaport LNG is a state-of-the-art receiving and regasification terminal in Saint John, New Brunswick.  This plant is capable of supplying 1.2 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day–20% of Northeast U.S. and Canada’s daily consumption.  Due to their critical nature, LNG marine terminals like Canaport LNG are designated as secure zones with highly restricted access. They must maintain sophisticated security plans to deter transportation security incidents to the maximum extent practical.

Canaport LNG selected SSR to deliver an integrated maritime and ground perimeter surveillance radar system to meet their security needs.  SSR’s solution provides a complementary set of sensors to automatically detect and warn of intruders on both land and sea.  This project required SSR to integrate a new perimeter surveillance radar system and provide interoperability with their existing IP video management and physical plant security systems.

SSR’s solution offers 360-degree perimeter surveillance for Canaport LNG.  Providing a seamless track picture as targets move between land and sea.  Fully integrated with the existing security management system, these new perimeter detection capabilities are provided without increasing operational complexity.
